Tajikistan's manufacturing industry grows in 5M2024

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 3. Tajikistan’s manufacturing sector saw growth in the first five months of the current year, reaching 10.368 billion somoni ($974.612 million), Trend reports.

According to data from Tajikistan’s Agency of Statistics, this represents an increase of 9.4 percent, or 931.8 million somoni ($87.5 million).

Within the sector:

Food production, including beverages and tobacco, accounted for 3.897 billion somoni ($366 million).

Textile and apparel manufacturing contributed 1.3 billion somoni ($122 million).

Production of wood and paper products, along with publishing activities, amounted to 292.6 million somoni ($27 million).

Petroleum product manufacturing totaled 28 million somoni ($2.6 million).

Chemical production reached 191.3 million somoni ($17.9 million).

Non-metallic mineral product manufacturing totaled 1.4 billion somoni ($131.6 million).

Metallurgical and fabricated metal product manufacturing amounted to 2.8 billion somoni ($263.2 million).

Overall, Tajikistan's industrial production reached 18.2 billion somoni ($1.71 billion) from January to May 2024, marking a 10 percent, or 1.8 billion somoni ($169.203 million), increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Sectorally, mining contributed 21.3 percent to the total industrial output, while manufacturing accounted for 56.8 percent, and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply made up 21.3 percent. Water supply, sewage, waste management, and remediation activities constituted 0.6 percent of the total production.
