BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Uzbekistan plans to purchase 600,000 tons of wheat from foreign markets for the state reserve,Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.
Wheat will be purchased to ensure food security and price stability in the country.
Import contracts for the supply of 100,000 tons of the third grade wheat will be concluded at reasonable prices with exporters of Kazakhstan from April through July, 2022. The remaining 500,000 tons of wheat will be imported from other countries.
The Uzbek Committee for the Management of State Reserves will allocate funds that will be provided to private entrepreneurs importing wheat and vegetable oil in the form of interest-free loans.
In addition, from April 1, 2022 until the end of the year, the committee will apply 50 percent preferential tariffs for the transportation of imported wheat and vegetable oil by rail.
