TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 11. The electrical engineering sector now accounts for 3.5% of Uzbekistan’s total industrial output, Trend reports.

This update was shared during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who reviewed the sector’s achievements and outlined future goals.

Currently, the industry represents 10% of the country’s total exports. In the past year, it produced goods worth approximately $2.38 billion and exported products valued at $1.3 billion. Additionally, $516 million in investments were utilized, and 85 new enterprises were launched. The sector now employs more than 27,000 people across the country.

To further enhance efficiency, a range of initiatives has been planned for the current year. One key focus is maximizing the impact of localization programs. Uzbekistan is set to implement investment projects worth $75 billion, with $28 billion tied to locally produced components.

To support the growth of the electrical engineering cluster, additional land plots have been allocated: 200 hectares in Akhangaran, 10 hectares in Fergana, and 4 hectares in Urgench. Infrastructure worth approximately $13.91 million has been constructed to support these developments.

With these measures, Uzbekistan aims to strengthen its position in the global market while creating new opportunities for innovation and employment within the industry.
