The first phase of Iran's electricity exports to Iraq, Syria and Lebanon will start in May, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reported a deputy energy minister as saying.
Iran will transfer about 300 megawatts of electricity to Iraq which will send 50 megawatts to Syria and Lebanon each said Deputy Minister of Energy, Mohammad Behzad.
After increasing export capacity to these countries, planning for synchronising their electricity networks will start.
On Saturday Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq reached an agreement to exchange electricity. Iran and Iraq are connected through four power lines. Syria aims to receive 200 megawatts of power from Iraq as the project goes on.
