By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iran has exported over 1.5 million barrels of gas condensate from Phase 19 of its South Pars gas field so far, Hamid Reza Masoudi, the manager of the phase said, SHANA news agency reported Aug. 23.

Iran started gas condensate export from the phase in June 2016.

Masoudi said that exporting some 500,000 barrels of gas condensate from the phase is also on the agenda.

It should be noted that Iran exported 5.943 million tons of gas condensate (some 401,000 barrels per day) worth $2.912 billion during the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 20-July 20), which indicates a 20-percent and a 9-percent decrease in volume and value respectively, year-on-year.

Masoudi further said that about 17 million cubic meters of sweet gas is produced per day by the two sweetening unit of Phase 19 refinery.

He added that all drilling operations in the phase are completed, expressing hope that the Platform 19B of the South Pars field will become operational by winter.

Phase 19 development of South Pars is set to produce 56 million cubic meters of gas per day, 80,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur per day, 1.05 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas a year, and one million tons of ethane a year.

South Pars, located in southern region, is divided into 24 development phases, and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are in Qatar's territorial waters.

The Islamic Republic is producing over 430 mcm/d of gas from South Pars, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
