Switzerland to build two more social homes in Tbilisi

Two social homes will be built in Tbilisi in the near future as part of a joint project of Tbilisi City Hall and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and Swiss Ambassador Gunter Behler have signed an agreement in this regard in Tbilisi.

Two social homes will be built in Tbilisi in the near future as part of a joint project of Tbilisi City Hall and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and Swiss Ambassador Gunter Behler have signed an agreement in this regard in Tbilisi.

New housing will be built in Didi Dighomi and will consist of two three-storey buildings. Construction will be completed in February 2013 and 24 socially unprotected families will be provided with comfortable apartments in the near future.

Tbilisi City Hall and the Agency for Development and Cooperation of Switzerland have been implementing Social House program since 2007 in order to improve the living conditions of socially unprotected population. Six houses of cottage type were built in Varketili as part
of the project.

Citizens addressed to the mayor office with the request to the provision of housing in social homes, after which a special commission studying a request. Commission checks the data on an individual basis and provides apartments to beneficiaries who need it most.
