Georgian President called disturbing the processes, surrounding the popularly elected Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava.
According to Mikhail Saakashvili, the mayor received three unprecedented conditions - inadequate collateral, recognizance not to leave the country and suspension of powers, which would prevent the elected person from exercising his powers.
"The pledge of one million is so absurd that I want once again to explain to those who still can not believe it, that no one in our government could have got this money. They still can not believe the fact that there are people, serving the country and the people, without making money of it. One can either make money or build. Tbilisi had mayors, who were making money, but they were replaced by mayors, such as Chiaberashvili and Ugulava, who were building," Saakashvili said.
As for the pledge, he said if it is possible to put the Glass bridge in pledge, let it be put, if it is possible to put the trestlework in pledge, let it be put.
Ugulava was charged with misappropriation of another's property (2nd and 3rd part of Article 182 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) and money laundering (third part of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
