Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri was re-elected for a second term by majority of vote in the parliament on June 25, Al Jazeera website reported.
Under the Lebanese constitution, the head of the parliament must be a Muslim Shiite. Berry represents Shiite Amal Party.
After the June 7 parliamentary elections, where the pro-Western "March 14" coalition won, led by Saad al-Hariri, son of killed Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri, the parliament suspended its activities. Next week, the country will hold elections to the government. The main candidate is the current Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
