ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 6. The completion of the construction of the new Almaty-2 logistics complex is planned for 2025, Trend reports.

During a working visit to Almaty, the leadership of KTZ (Kazakhstan Railways) familiarized themselves with the progress of the Almaty-2 logistics complex construction project.

On the 10-hectare terminal site, the construction of modern covered warehouses (24,500 m²) and open warehouses (12,000 m²), as well as a container yard (12,000 m²), is planned. The design capacity is 57,000 TEU. To date, engineering-geodetic and geological surveys have been completed, and demolition work has begun.

The implementation of the project will successfully consolidate cargoes from almost all regions of China in an import hub mode for recipients in Almaty and the Almaty region.

Additionally, during a tour of enterprises in the Almaty hub, the company’s management reviewed the material and technical base of the Main Network Directorate and visited the Regional Train Control Center of the Southeast Region (RTCC-2 Almaty).

RTCC-2 combines dispatch centers of the Almaty, Shymkent, Zhambyl, and Semey divisions, with an operational track length of 4,450 kilometers. The high level of responsibility of each RTCC-2 employee in ensuring the safe and uninterrupted movement of trains was noted.

A focus on increasing the level of safety in train operations was also emphasized during a meeting with the heads of the freight transport and main network departments in Almaty, where issues of production activities, working conditions, and social responsibility were discussed.

The leadership of KTZ highlighted the contribution of each employee to the development of the industry during a ceremonial event with the railway hub staff. Distinguished workers and industry veterans were awarded prizes in honor of the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstan's railways.

To note, RTCC-2 (Regional Train Control Center) combines dispatch centers of the Almaty, Shymkent, Zhambyl, and Semey divisions, with an operational track length of 4,450 kilometers.
The twenty-foot equivalent unit (abbreviated TEU or teu) is a general unit of cargo capacity, often used for container ships and container ports.
