ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 23. Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, KTZ) has implemented a ban on shipping cargo-filled containers and empty wagons to China through the Dostyk-Alashankou railway border crossing until December 31 of this year, Trend reports.

This restriction is applicable to the registration and rerouting of empty wagons and the loading of all cargo into containers bound for China through the Dostyk checkpoint from December 21 through December 31, 2024, inclusive.

The imposed ban is explained by the accumulation of more than 40 temporarily sidelined trains, caused by storm winds of 23-28 m/s and gusts exceeding 30 m/s in the Koktuma section of Kazakhstan.

To note, this measure does not apply to continuous cycle factories operating according to the schedule from the loading stations of Aksu, Zhinishke, Oskemen-1, Novo-Ust-Kamenogorsk, Ridder, and Karabatano.
