ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 24. Kazakhstan Railways introduces new restrictions, prohibiting the dispatch of more than four container trains per day to the Altinkol station, Trend reports.
The national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) has implemented restrictions on the number of container trains allowed to be sent from Kazakhstan to China through the "Altinkol-Khorgos" railway border crossing.
Until December 25, 2024, five regional freight divisions have been permitted to evenly load and dispatch no more than four container trains per day in this direction. This includes: one train per day from the Akmolinsk division; one train per day from the Kostanay division; one train per day from the Almaty division; one train every two days from the Pavlodar division; one train every two days from the Aktobe division.
Due to the current situation, shippers have been exempted from fines for failing to meet the planned transport quotas for this direction during the second and third decades of December 2024.
To note, earlier Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, KTZ) had implemented a ban on shipping cargo-filled containers and empty wagons to China through the Dostyk-Alashankou railway border crossing until December 31 of this year.
