Ukrainian company Altkom Road Construction is carrying out preparatory works for the construction of road and railway bridges Turkmenabat-Farabi, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper wrote.

According to the newspaper, about 1,000 people will be employed at two important transportation and communication facilities. A variety of complex operations will be carried out here over three years.

"Only during the construction of railway bridge, over 55,000 cubic meters of reinforced concrete will be used for production of bored piles and support bodies, and more than 9,000 tons of metal will be used for the spans," the article said.

The railway bridge will stretch for 1750 meters long over the river. With the use of high-strength structures the bridge will be able to bear heavy freight trains, as well as earthquakes measuring nine on the Richter scale.

According to the newspaper, the length of the new road bridge will be 1600 meters long and spans' height will allow vessels to freely pass under them. The bridge's project was designed with consideration of geological and climatic conditions, which frequently change the course of Amu Darya river.

The bridge belongs to the first category: four-lane roadway with the width of 21.5 meters will be useful for any size motor vehicles.

The project is being implemented on the basis of the contracts signed with Turkmenistan's Ministry of Railway Transport and the State Concern Turkmenavtoyollary (Turkmen highways).

The facilities are expected to be put into commission in 2016.
