By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
The Caucasian Wind Company plans to build wind farms in Georgian Tbilisi (54 MW) and Kaspi (54 MW), which are scheduled to be commissioned in 2023, Trend reports via Georgian media.
The total installed capacity of the two plants will be 108 MW, which is 5 times more than the capacity of the existing Kartli wind farm. At the same time, according to the company, only due to the electricity generated by the WPPs of Tbilisi and Kaspi, it will be possible to replace 10-15 percent of the imported electricity.
Integration of wind farms with power transmission systems is an important challenge, the company said. For example, simultaneous connection to a 1,000 MW network requires large investments in network development and reserve capacities.
“According to current estimates, with the current network configuration, it will be possible to connect about 400 MW wind farms to the transmission system over the next 4-5 years, which will increase in the future with the development of the power system,” said the Caucasian Wind Company.
