ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 27. Turkmenistan plans to build a plant for the development of mineral resources in the Garabogazgol bay located in the Balkan region of the country in the near future, Trend reports.

Dovrangeldi Sapbaev, Chairman of Turkmenhimiya State Concern, made this statement at the International Forum to Attract Foreign Investments in Turkmenistan's Energy Sector, which was held in Paris.

"The Gulf's mineral abundance provides an almost limitless supply of raw materials for the manufacturing of magnesium, sodium salts, bromine, and boron compounds. As a result, in the near future, we want to undertake a project for the construction of a modern chemical company for the integrated development of the Garabogazgol bay's unique mineral resources," he said.

Furthermore, the chairman stated that three new factories for the manufacture of iodine, bromine, and their derivatives will be built in the near future.

Turkmenistan is rapidly establishing new industries in order to boost its economic potential and natural resources.

This strategy approach aims to diversify the country's economy, reduce reliance on specific industries, create new jobs, boost economic activity, and ensure the national industry's long-term prosperity.

Garabogazgol is a shallow, very salty lagoon off the Caspian Sea in northeastern Turkmenistan. The lagoon has a varied surface area, usually around 6,900 square meters. A short, rocky ridge separates it from the Caspian Sea, with a very tight passage through which Caspian Sea waters flow. The lagoon's volume varies annually, as evidenced by its salt evaporation ponds and dry salt pans.
