In January-September 2015, Azneft production association, which is the production unit of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), has extracted about 5.16 million tons of oil, which exceeds the planned level by 1.5 percent, said the message of SOCAR Oct.16.
The message said that in January-September the production unit produced 4.6 billion cubic meters of gas, which exceeds the planned figure by 7.9 percent.
"During the reporting period, 83 wells that were in the inactive fund were returned to the operational fund, which made it possible to produce additional 39,500 tons of oil," said the message.
In January-September, the production association carried out 558 geological operations, which is important in the matter of maintaining and increasing oil and gas production.
"As a result of these activities, about 239,000 tons of oil was further produced," said the message. "In addition, the scope of drilling has been expanded. Some 56 wells, from which 118,700 tons of oil were produced, have been drilled and commissioned since the beginning of 2015 in accordance with the order of the production association.
SOCAR includes Azneft (companies producing oil and gas offshore and onshore), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas production associations.
Moreover, the State Oil Company comprises a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises, institutions involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
