BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. Georgia’s Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Halil Achkar, Vice President of Global Blue, to discuss the company’s possible entry into the Georgian market as the country works to strengthen tourism and retail sectors, Trend reports via the Ministry.

Global Blue, an international provider of tax-free shopping and payment solutions, is assessing opportunities in Georgia amid steady economic growth and rising value added in tourism and related industries, the ministry said.

The sides reviewed trends in Georgia’s economy, with a focus on tourism, civil aviation, and retail. Kvrivishvili noted that Georgia is expanding its range of tourism products to attract higher-spending visitors.

The Ministry said Global Blue’s arrival would enhance the economic impact of tourism, as international tax-free standards typically increase tourist spending. It added that the company’s operations could also boost the competitiveness of the retail sector by encouraging more premium brands to enter the market and supporting the development of the digital economy.
