The project to build a deep way out of sewage water from Hovsan aeration station to the Caspian Sea is delayed by the process of re-qualification of potential suppliers, World Bank (WB) baku office head Gregory Jedzejczak said.

"As this process is delayed, we postponed consideration of the draft at the board of directors of the bank. The project will be reviewed in early July. It is necessary to conduct formal negotiations between the World Bank and the government," he said.

Accordingly, the financing of the project will be implemented by the budget for 2011 fiscal year, which begins from July 2010.

Jedzejczak said that  according to preliminary estimates, the cost of this project will be about $100-150 million.

This is the best option in terms of hydrology of the Caspian Sea and the prospects for environmental self-cleaning.

Consultant of the project is an alliance of French company Seurega (a subsidiary of Veolia) and the Azerbaijani company ASPI. Feasibility of the project was prepared by the Turkish company "Seyas".
