Iranian company seeking energy projects in Kenya

Iran’s Power and Water Equipment and Services Export Company (SUNIR) is willing to carry out energy projects in Kenya, Manouchehr Farrokhpay, an official with the company said.

In a meeting with a trade delegation from the African country, Farrokhpay said that SUNIR is planning for increasing its presence in global markets in particular in Africa, IRNA news agency reported July 3.

The two sides discussed banking cooperation and fixing the existing problems facing the entrepreneurs of two countries.

Also at the meeting it was decided that the Kenyan party to introduce certain projects in the energy sector to the Iranian company.

SUNIR has so far carried out 200 projects in the region, East Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The company is currently carrying out 18 projects in 13 countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, Iraq, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, and Armenia.

Earlier in May SUNIR sealed an agreement with Eurasia Invest Group for building a 50-megawatt wind power plant in Kazakhstan's west near the country's Caspian Sea shores.
