The two-day international energy security conference In direction of external energy policy of the European Union, which ensures the highest level of delivery of energy carriers will conclude on 21 November in Brussels, Trendreports with reference to RIA Novosti.
The Chairman of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barrozu, stressed at the conference that Russia is an important partner of the European Union with regards to energy. Russia is a significant energy partner for the European Union, but it is not solitary and will not be a lone partner, and therefore the EU are signing energy agreements with a number of our partners, Barozzu said.
We agree that Russia needs predictability from Europe, and Europe in turn requires predictability from Russia, he stated, speaking of the energy relations between the EU and Russian Federation.
The Head of the European Commission emphasized that it needs to recognize and use this interdependency for mutual benefits, Barrozu said.
The meeting brought together delegations from the USA, Norway, Turkey, Ukraine and Ethiopia. The conference participants discussed five topics: In direction of harmonic and co-ordinative external energy policy, External assessment of the internal energy market of the EU, Problems with hydrocarbon delivery, Energy and international trade and Energy and development.
