ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 26. The Shymkent division of Kazakhstan Railways national company delivered 680,000 tons of grain by rail from January through August 2024, Trend reports.
According to the company, in that same stretch of time, the division sent off 2,634 wagons loaded to the brim with 180,000 tons of flour.
In the first 18 days of September, flour loading increased by 63 percent compared to the previous year, amounting to approximately 5,700 tons.
The Shymkent division operates 25 mills for grain processing. Overall, Kazakhstan transported over 5.2 million tons of grain in the first eight months of 2024, including 1.2 million tons domestically and 4 million tons for export.
Additionally, Kazakhstan Railways has reported that between January and August 2024, over 165.5 million tons of cargo were transported across its network, with 55.8 million tons designated for export. Domestic rail transport saw a 1.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year, totaling 109.7 million tons.
