BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 8. Kyrgyzstan plans to build four hydroelectric power plants, said President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov at the opening ceremony of Kambar-Ata-1 HPP construction, Trend reports via press service of Kyrgyz President.
Projects of Construction of Suusamyr-Kokomeren, Sary-Jaz, Kazarman and Upper Naryn hydropower cascade HPP's are currently being considered in Kyrgyzstan.
“Reducing sources of electricity that have a negative impact on the environment and focusing on the growth of hydropower industry in Kyrgyzstan are our priorities,” Zhaparov emphasized.
According to him, today, only from 10 to 11 percent of Kyrgyzstan's hydropower potential is being used. In the past, Kyrgyzstan had the opportunity to build small and large HPP's, but such initiatives were ignored.
