BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 26. The full launch of the oil refinery in Kok-Talaa village, located in the Kadamjay district of Batken region, Kyrgyzstan, is scheduled for March 2025, Trend reports.
This was announced during a meeting of the energy companies and institutions under the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, reviewing the results of 2024.
Moreover, it was reported that in collaboration with the Kyrgyz-Turk K-NeftGas company and Kyrgyzneftegaz, a state-owned oil and gas enterprise, repair and preparatory work has been conducted on the oil wells within the project. Currently, construction of the oil refinery is 95 percent complete.
The license agreement for oil and gas production in the North Sokh and Chongara Galcha fields was also obtained in 2024. At present, extraction is underway at seven wells, with the total amount of extracted oil already reaching 200 tons.
Currently, the oil refinery employs 42 staff members. However, following the full launch of the refinery, it is expected to create 350–400 new jobs.
The agreement to implement the project was signed in March 2023 between the Kyrgyz-Turk K-NeftGas and Kyrgyzneftegaz. Meanwhile, it is expected that the plant will have a capacity of 500 tons per day and a total investment of $91 million. Originally, it was planned that the plant would be launched in the fall of 2024.
