By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran and Switzerland are ready to launch joint ventures in mining, food, and tourism industries, said Gholamreza Shafei, the chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines.
In a meeting with a Swiss trade delegation in Tehran, Shafei said Iran is ready to resume cooperation with Swiss companies in food, chocolate, watch, medical, mining, and tourism industries, Iran's Fars news agency reported on April 27.
Over the past two years, the administration has eased regulations for foreign companies to invest in Iran, Shafei said on the sidelines of the meeting.
Considering the water shortage problem in Iran, Swiss companies can help Iran modernize its irrigation and farming systems, he added.
A delegation of economic representatives headed by former Swiss ambassador to Iran Livia Leu is in Tehran in order to determine economic investment opportunities.
Iran and the P5+1 group of countries are working on a final agreement over the Iranian nuclear energy program that has a deadline of June 30. A key point of the agreement will be the removal of a series of economic sanctions on Iran.
Several delegations from Europe and Asia have so far visited the country to study the potentials for investing in the country's market and more are expected in capital Tehran in the near future.
