( dpa )- African-American candidate Barack Obama beat fellow US Senator Hillary Clinton in a Democratic presidential preference vote Saturday in Washington state, keeping the party's nomination race wide open.
Obama led by a 2-1 margin with about half the votes counted, after caucuses held in the Pacific Coast state, the biggest prize on a night of three Democratic polls across the country.
Three US-based television networks projected Obama the winner in Washington.
