The 55th meeting of the European Regional Commission of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) will be held in 2013 in Izmir, the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan reported on Tuesday.
This decision was taken at the 54th meeting of WTO Regional Commission for Europe, held in the Georgian city of Batumi. WTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai said in his speech at the event that in 2011 the growth of international tourism in the world reached 4.4 percent, in Europe - 5.8 percent.
He said that in 2012, the growth of international tourism in the world will reach 3-4 percent, in Europe - 2-4 percent.
The meeting participants exchanged views on simplification of visa regime to facilitate travel in Europe.
