ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 10. Leading French companies are interested in investing in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, Trend reports via Akimat of Shymkent city.
In the course of the meeting, Shymkent’s Mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov and French business leaders, led by French Ambassador Sylvain Guiaugué, discussed the current issue.
Representatives of major French companies, including EDF, Veolia, AZ Syndicat, C3Medical, Dualest, ALMGT JV, Richel Group, and the France-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFK), participated in the business forum and expressed interest in implementing several joint projects in Shymkent.
The mayor expressed gratitude the French delegation for their interest in the city and noted that the agreements reached during the B2B and G2B meetings as part of the business forum would open new opportunities and give a fresh boost to bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, a Roadmap was signed to strengthen partnerships and implement joint projects from 2025 through 2028. The document provides for the development of cultural and educational exchange, the introduction of advanced French technologies in urban planning, agriculture, and urban infrastructure, as well as enhanced cooperation in healthcare, science, and education.
Additionally, the agreement aims to promote tourism, including holding French Culture Days in Shymkent and Shymkent City Days in France. It will also help improve the investment climate and expand business ties. The implementation of the Roadmap is expected to create new opportunities for the city’s residents and be an important step toward its sustainable development.
To note, in December last year, the mayor of Shymkent held a meeting with the Ambassador of France to Kazakhstan, Sylvain Guiaugué. During the negotiations, they agreed to organize a business forum with the participation of representatives from French and Shymkent companies.
