BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Azerbaijan's cargo and passenger transportation from January through May 2025 rose by 3 percent and 5.9 percent, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates
that logistics sector stakeholders facilitated the movement of a
cumulative 96.8 million tons of freight. In this aggregate,
maritime conveyance accounted for 3.9 percent, rail logistics
comprised 7.3 percent, aerial transport represented a mere 0.2
percent, terrestrial transit dominated at 59.9 percent, while
pipeline distribution constituted 28.7 percent.
Furthermore, the throughput of freight mobilized by assets within
the non-state domain experienced an uptick of 4.4 percent, with
this segment constituting 78.9 percent of the aggregate tonnage
conveyed.
Furthermore, transportation providers facilitated the movement of
849.8 million passengers during the period spanning January to May
2025. Among the modalities of transit, a substantial 88.3 percent
utilized terrestrial conveyance, while 11.1 percent engaged in
subterranean transit systems, with the residual fraction employing
alternative transportation methodologies.
