BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. Turkmenistan is taking significant steps toward joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), a source from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) told Trend.
“Turkmenistan is gaining access to new markets, investments, and robust growth thanks to UNCTAD's assistance as the country moves closer to joining the World Trade Organization,” the source said.
The entity indicated that, through synergistic engagement with various global stakeholders, it is evaluating the nation’s preparedness for the execution of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and striving to mitigate regulatory and procedural impediments to commerce.
“The goal is a modern, globally aligned trade policy that allows Turkmen businesses to compete internationally while ensuring regional integration complements global rules. We are also supporting sustainable trade and innovation strategies to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure, and promote responsible production,” the UNCTAD concluded.
