Head of Nur-Sultan (former Astana) Bakhyt Sultanov highlighted the importance of more wide and effective use of renewable energy sources, Trend reports via the official website of the akimat (local administration).
A meeting of the akimat was held under the chairmanship of Sultanov, where a number of relevant issues related Nur-Sultan were discussed.
According to Yerbol Toleuov, Head of the city's department for the fuel and energy complex and utilities, the government agencies and private companies already began to use renewable energy sources in construction.
“Renewable energy sources are situated in 23 urban facilities. Currently, their total output amount to over 700 kWh. This allows for 200 million tenge on electricity to be saved. Renewable energy sources are used to light two streets of the town, a number of parks and squares, pumping stations, bus stops,” he said.
Bakhyt Sultanov also stated that Kazakhstan possesses positive examples of alternative energy sources usage. He mandated the issue to be looked into and for the appropriate proposals to be considered.
