Kazakhstan will be able to consider way out of parallel energy system of Central Asia after completing of the second electricity transmission Transit North - South construction, KEGOC JSC vice-president Valery Li said at the press-conference in Astana.
"We went out of parallel work of Central Asian energy system in spring. But Kazakhstan faces certain risks. If one of our transmission line connecting north with south switches off, we will face the same situation," Li said.
Construction of the second electricity transmission Transit North - South is planned to complete in the forth quarter, he said.
"After KEGOC completes construction of this electricity transmission, we can consider variant of separate work," Li said.
Moreover, a new 500 megawatt sub station is planned to be constructed in Almaty to protect big mega polis from similar situations, Li said.
Electricity transmission of sub station Almaty-500 switched off last Wednesday because of sharp reduction of capacity of Toktogul hydroelectric power station in Kyrgyzstan.
KEGOC is the system operator of Kazakh united energy system. Its major task is to ensure stabile functioning of united energy system.
