KazMunayGaz national company will be single owner of the Pavlodar petrochemical plant, well-informed source at Trade House KazMunayGaz (subsidiary of KMG NC) said.
"Management of the national company decided that the company will sign a deal to buy MangistauMunayGaz shares together with a Chinese company while KazMunayGaz shares will be totally owned by KazMunayGaz," a source said.
The KMG and CNPC Exploration and Development Company Ltd will buy shares of MangistauMunayGaz from the Indonesian Central Asia Petroleum Ltd.
KMG holds 200 percent of Atirau refinery and 50 percent of Shimkent refinery. There are three oil refineries in the country - Pavlodar in north, Shimkent in south and Atirau in west of the country.
"State control over the three refineries will enable the national company to regulate prices in lubricants market," he said.
The Pavlodar Oil Refinery refined 4 to 4.3 million tons of oil over the last two years. The refinery has capacity of 5 to 6 million tons of oil. The plant, built during the Soviet Union, refines oil mainly from Siberia.
