ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 3. Kazakhstan is exploring the possibilities of supplying Kazakh crude oil via the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Black Sea to the Bulgarian city of Burgas, Trend reports.
This was stated during the meeting held between Energy Minister of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria Viktor Temirbayev, where the sides noted that Bulgaria and Kazakhstan have great unrealized potential in the field of energy.
"For Bulgaria, Kazakhstan is not just a partner, but rather a reliable partner," Minister Radev said, adding that Bulgaria has a clear understanding of Kazakhstan's capacity in the energy sector.
In turn, Temirbayev stressed that Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian country to sign an agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation with the EU. Meanwhile, he regretted about the infrequency of the meeting, emphasizing that the last time the Bulgarian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation was in 2016.
Furthermore, it was also noted that the relations between the two countries should be enhanced and that a broader memorandum of cooperation should be considered.
To note, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Bulgaria equaled $26.9 million from January through April 2023.
