Turkmenistan boosts imports of mechanical, electrical equipment from Germany

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. Turkmenistan increased imports of mechanical and electrical equipment from Germany by almost 11 percent year-on-year in January this year, the source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.

Germany exported mechanical and electrical equipment worth over 4.62 million euros to Turkmenistan in January this year, which is almost 11 percent more than in the same month of 2023, which amounted to over 4.17 million euros.

According to Eurostat, the list of these categories of goods exported to Turkmenistan includes machines and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment and parts thereof, sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, as well as parts and accessories of such articles.

In general, the total volume of Turkmenistan's imports from Germany in January 2024 amounted to 8.63 million euros, where these goods account for 53 percent.

Furthermore, for the whole of 2023, Turkmenistan imported mechanical and electrical equipment from Germany totaling about 58.82 million euros, which is almost 27 percent less than imports in 2022, when they amounted to 80.36 million euros.

Meanwhile, in the first month of this year, the total volume of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Germany amounted to more than 8.74 million euros, which is 40 percent less than in the same month of 2023, when it amounted to almost 14.6 million euros.
