On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi condemned the terrorist attacks that were carried out in Iraq and Afghanistan on Tassua and Ashura days respectively, MNA reported.
Tassua and Ashura days are the ninth and tenth days of Muharram upon which Hazrat Abbas (AS) and Imam Hussein (AS) were martyred.
On Monday, separate bomb attacks killed at least 33 Shia mourners and wounded 101 others across Iraq, according to the Press TV.
On Tuesday, at least 54 Afghans lost their lives in two separate explosions in the Afghan cities of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif when Muslims were mourning.
Salehi said that such attacks are carried out with the aim of stoking ethnic and religious strife and undermining national unity and regional security and stability.
He called on people in regional countries to exercise self-restraint and said that certain foreign countries are opposed to peace and stability in the region and are seeking to provoke ethnic and religious conflicts whose plans should be foiled through "vigilance" and "tact".
