BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The foreign currency supplied to Iran for import purposes amounted to about $11.7 billion from March 20 through May 29, spokesman of Iran's Foreign Exchange and Gold Exchange Center Asghar Balesini said, Trend reports.
According to him, $2.98 billion has been earmarked for the import of necessary products (corn, barley, wheat, etc.) and medicines.
Balesini stated that foreign exchange worth $6.4 billion has been secured for the importation of commercial products.
The official noted that foreign exchange worth $2.07 billion was provided in the mentioned period in exchange for Iran's exports to import products.
He added that foreign currency worth $256 million was provided for services during the mentioned period.
To note, the provision of foreign currency in Iran in connection with imports is carried out by the Center for Currency and Gold established by the Central Bank of Iran.
