The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran announced that the installment sale of handmade carpets will start in the next Iranian year (starts on March 21).

A tripartite memorandum of understanding was signed between the Omid Entrepreneurship Fund, the National Carpet Center of Iran, and the private sector to develop sustainable employment and support the Iranian hand-woven carpet market, Trend reports citing ISNA.

The MoU was signed between the head of the National Carpet Center and the CEO of the Omid Entrepreneurship Fund in the presence of Mohammad Omid, the vice president for rural development.

“From the beginning of next Iranian year (starts on March 21), every Iranian family can buy handmade carpets with a maximum of $12,000 in the form of the installment sale. Over one million new jobs will be created, if every Iranian family buys a handmade carpet,” the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and the Director of Iran's National Carpet Center Farahnaz Rafe announced.

She stated that the system is provided by the private sector, which consists of a consortium of manufacturers, sellers, and exporters of handmade carpets.

“A website will be set up where the carpets and sellers will be introduced over it,” she said.
