An Austrian court on Tuesday sentenced a 67-year- old man to 20 years in prison for murdering his sister, brother and their spouses, dpa reported.
Josef Branis, a retiree, killed his family last July in the suburb of Strasshof after his sister evicted him from her apartment. The siblings had been arguing over the rent for one and a half years.
He was arrested in Austria last August after six weeks on the run in Slovakia and the Czech Republic and admitted the basic facts of the crime. He was in possession of a gun, which he told police was the murder weapon.
Branis told the court Tuesday he had no regrets and showed no remorse. He could not tolerate the constant insults from his sister, he said. "Now I can sleep a lot better," he said.
The court also sentenced Branis' relative, who was not identified, to 12 years in prison for conspiracy to murder, the APA news agency reported.
