ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 7. Qarmet announced
the best winter period for the company in terms of steel production
over the last seven years, Trend reports.
The metallurgists summarized the results of the 2024-2025 winter
season. Compared to 2023, the steel production growth is 30
percent, and product shipments have increased by 23 percent,
marking the best results since 2018. The significant improvement in
plant efficiency was made possible through technical and
operational enhancements.
For instance, the IT department developed its application for
scheduled equipment inspections and repairs. This tool allows
responsible services to receive data on equipment anomalies and
defects during inspections in real time, which helps promptly
address malfunctions.
At the final briefing, Qarmet's CEO Vadim Basin outlined further
tasks and gave specific instructions to departments for continued
production growth. Special attention was given to the company's new
projects, particularly the connection to natural gas. The effect
will be reflected in the steel cost and in maintaining the city's
environmental quality – both strategic aspects for Qarmet.
JSC "Qarmet" is the largest steelmaking and mining company in Kazakhstan, owning the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant (Temirtau), the largest steelmaking enterprise in Kazakhstan. It is divided into three departments: Steel, Coal, and Iron Ore.
