ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 29. In 2024, significant attention was devoted to increasing exports of products from Kazakhstan’s processing industries, including metallurgy, mechanical engineering, the chemical industry, and the food sector, said Bauyrzhan Bolganisov, Director of the Export Promotion Department of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at a briefing by the Central Communications Service, Trend reports.
According to him, metallurgy persistently dominated the national export framework, with export volumes surging to $16.9 billion, underscoring the robust competitiveness of Kazakh metallurgical offerings in the global marketplace.
“Food and mechanical engineering products also showed growth. Exports of food products amounted to $2.8 billion, confirming stable demand for Kazakh food in neighboring countries and Middle Eastern markets. Exports of mechanical engineering products reached $2.2 billion, a positive signal of the technological reorientation of Kazakhstan’s industry and growing localization of complex equipment,” Bolganisov noted.
He also emphasized the significant growth in chemical exports, which amounted to $1.9 billion, and petrochemical exports, which reached $1.5 billion.
In his assessment, these metrics substantiate the robust advancement of Kazakhstan’s processing sectors, aligning seamlessly with the nation’s strategic imperatives for industrialization and the expansion of the processing industry.
“As for export destinations, Kazakhstan’s main partners in 2024 were Russia, China, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Russia remains Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner for non-resource goods, with export volumes of $8.1 billion. China, as a key strategic partner, imported Kazakh products worth $7.19 billion, while Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan demonstrated stable trade growth with Kazakhstan,” he added.
As of the conclusion of 2024, Kazakhstan's aggregate trade turnover culminated at $141.4 billion, reflecting a 1.3 percent increment relative to the corresponding timeframe in 2023. The speaker indicated that Kazakhstan's export metrics escalated to $81.6 billion, reflecting a 3.2 percent uptick compared to the previous fiscal year of 2023. Concurrently, the aggregate of imports reached $59.8 billion, reflecting a marginal contraction of one percent relative to the preceding fiscal year.
