ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 12. The low-density polyethylene (LDPE) production unit at the Petromidia refinery, owned by the KMG International group (a subsidiary of KazMunayGas), has resumed operations in Romania, Trend reports via KazMunayGas.
According to information, thanks to the reintegration of the
LDPE unit into the petrochemical complex of the Petromidia
refinery, the company intends to strengthen its position as the
sole national polymer producer in Romania.
"Since the beginning of this year, there has been an increase in
demand for petrochemical products in the European market. In this
regard, the management of KMG International made the decision to
resume the operation of the low-density polyethylene production
unit. This will contribute to further growth in KMGI's production
and financial performance, as well as restore leadership in the
regional polymer market," the statement says.
Moreover, with a designed capacity of 75,000 tons per year, the
LDPE unit will start producing products used for manufacturing
shrink wrap, agricultural films, thin packaging films, and durable
bags starting from May of this year.
Overall, KMG International plans to produce over 145,000 tons of
polymers in 2025.
