ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 19. The government of Kazakhstan has allocated over 2.5 billion tenge (approximately $5 million) for the repair of the Kyzylorda Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHPP), Trend reports via the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan.
According to the information, the funds will be used to implement a project for the reconstruction of three steam boilers at the city’s southern boiler house.
“In particular, the funds will be directed to the State Communal Enterprise ‘Kyzylorda Heat and Power Center,’ which is the only organization providing centralized heating to the residents of Kyzylorda through three sources: the main CHP, the Southern Boiler House, and autonomous boiler houses,” the government stated.
The main equipment at the Southern Boiler House is in emergency condition and operates without backup capacity.
Moreover, completion of the project will allow the city to prepare for the upcoming heating season and ensure reliable heating for the southern part of Kyzylorda, which includes 197 apartment complexes, 73 social facilities, and 69 utility buildings.
The government has also allocated funding for the reconstruction of the drinking and domestic water treatment facilities in Zhezkazgan. The total amount allocated is 1.8 billion tenge (approximately $3.5 million).
“The funds are designated for the second phase of a project for the full reconstruction of Zhezkazgan’s existing water treatment facilities, which have a capacity of 124,000 cubic meters per day. This includes the installation of membrane equipment, enabling the modernization of the domestic and drinking water treatment plant. The implementation of this project is of social importance for the residents of Zhezkazgan,” the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan reported.
The regional center’s water supply comes from the Kengir Reservoir. The city's water treatment facilities were commissioned in 1966, and approximately 90 percent of the equipment and technologies are worn out.
