Iran to complete National Information Network

Iran has completed 57 percent of the National Information Network infrastructure while the unified security center in the network will start operating some components in two weeks, said Minister of Information and Communication Technology(ICT), Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said, Trend reports citing IRIB.

"The ICT Ministry will complete 59 percent of the infrastructure in the network while other organizations including Economic Ministry, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, banks and insurance would carry the rest, "Jahromi said

"The launch of the main data center in the National Information Network would improve local search engines. The ICT Ministry is expecting to complete the project by September 2021 and complete domestic messaging apps and search engines by 2025," he said.

"The ministry is to provide special internet packages to students and teachers in the new academic year and so far 79,000 schools from 86,000 are connected to National Information Network for free," he said.

"About 39,000 villages are expected to be connected to the internet by the end of the current Iranian year(started March 20, 2020) so far 32,000 are equipped with bandwidth," he said.

"There are 73 million internet users in Iran and the average connection speed is 7 megabit per second while the number of domestic startups reached 6,000," he said.
