TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 21. In the first quarter of 2025, a total of 27 million tons of key freight were transported via Uzbekistan's public railway network, Trend reports.
As per the national statistical authority's data release, the
freight transport throughput exhibited an uptick of 0.8 million
tons, translating to a 3.0 percent escalation relative to the
corresponding timeframe in 2024.
The escalation in rail freight activity highlights the ongoing
enhancement of Uzbekistan’s logistics and transportation framework,
playing a pivotal role in the nation’s economic advancement.
The Uzbekistan Railways serve as the country's primary rail transport operator. The organization possesses and manages the entirety of the railway infrastructure throughout the nation. This entity is a government-owned joint-stock company, established in 1994 to manage railway operations throughout Uzbekistan. As of March 2017, the overall extent of the primary railway system measures 4,669 km, with 2,446 km being electrified. The organization has a workforce of 54,700 individuals.
