IMF predicts slowing inflation rate for Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 16. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects inflation in Kyrgyzstan to reach 6.7 percent in 2024, Trend reports.

This figure decreased by 1.9 percentage points compared to the 8.6 percent projected in the IMF’s October economic outlook. It is forecast that inflation will decrease to 6.6 percent in 2025.

Meanwhile, the World Bank (WB) anticipates inflation in Kyrgyzstan to be 8.4 percent in 2024, with a decrease to 7 percent in 2025 and a further decline to 5.5 percent in 2026.

Additionally, during a recent meeting of the country's parliament, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, stated that inflation in Kyrgyzstan is projected to decrease in 2024.

Japarov highlighted the gradual adaptation of the economy to post-COVID and geopolitical realities, noting that inflation dropped from 14.7 percent at the beginning of 2023 to 7.3 percent by the end. Forecasts for 2024 suggest a further decrease in the range of 6.5–5.5 percent, indicating the country's economic stability.
