BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 18. Consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan rose by 4.2 percent in the first ten months of 2024, Trend reports
According to the State Statistical Committee, among the key contributors to the overall inflation were alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, which saw a price increase of 9.3 percent, as well as non-food products, which rose by 3.6 percent. Food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 2.3 percent, while tariffs for services provided to the population went up by 7.5 percent.
Several food categories experienced notable price hikes. Animal fats surged by 13.6 percent, followed by fresh meat, which increased by 12 percent. Other items that saw significant price increases include honey (up 10.9 percent), ice cream (up 10 percent), salt (up 8.6 percent), fatty cottage cheese (up 8.1 percent), and potatoes (up 7.7 percent).
Additionally, fish prices rose by 6.2 percent, while confectionery and butter increased by 5.9 percent. Other items with notable price rises included semolina (up 5.4 percent), non-alcoholic beverages and premium flour (up 5.2 percent), bakery products (up 4.9 percent), cheese (up 4.1 percent), and milk (up 3.5 percent).
On the other hand, some products saw price declines, with buckwheat falling by 17.5 percent, fresh vegetables by 15.6 percent, and fresh fruits by 14.8 percent. Other items that became cheaper include bulk milk (down 7.5 percent), eggs (down 3.6 percent), jams and preserves (down 3.1 percent), first-grade flour (down 1.9 percent), cotton oil (down 1.3 percent), and beef liver (down 0.8 percent).
