BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 10. Consumer prices and tariffs in Kyrgyzstan increased by 5.4 percent from January to November 2024 compared to December 2023, Trend reports via the National Statistics Committee.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 10.6 percent, non-food items increased by 4.9 percent, and food products and non-alcoholic beverages grew by 3.8 percent. Tariffs for services provided to the population rose by 7.9 percent.
The largest price increases were recorded for potatoes (up 23.1 percent), ice cream (up 14.1 percent), natural honey (up 13.3 percent), fresh meat (up 12.2 percent), animal fats (up 11.7 percent), salt (up 8.7 percent), fatty cottage cheese (up 8.5 percent), butter (up 8.4 percent), confectionery (up 7.4 percent), fish (up 6.4 percent), semolina (up 5.3 percent), premium flour (up 5.7 percent), non-alcoholic beverages (up 5.6 percent), baked goods (up 5.5 percent), medium-grain rice (up 4.1 percent), cheese (up 3.8 percent), pasteurized milk (2.5-3.2 percent fat) (up 3.7 percent), and sunflower oil (up 2.9 percent).
Conversely, prices decreased for buckwheat (down 17.6 percent), fresh fruits (down 14.9 percent), bulk milk (down 5.4 percent), fresh vegetables (down 4.9 percent), jams and preserves (down 2.9 percent), eggs (down 2.6 percent), first-grade flour (down 2.4 percent), and cotton oil (down 0.5 percent).
Price and tariff increases were observed across all regions of the country. The highest increase, 7 percent, was recorded in the Issyk-Kul region. The largest rise in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices was noted in Bishkek, with an increase of 5.2 percent.
The highest growth in non-food prices (8.6 percent) occurred in the Talas region, while alcohol and tobacco products saw the biggest rise in Osh (14.9 percent). The most significant increase in service tariffs (10.3 percent) was observed in Batken and Issyk-Kul regions.
