BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 16. Consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan rose by 2.2 percent from January through April 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's National Statistical Committee shows that the increase was mainly driven by a 3.9 percent rise in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products grew by 2.3 percent, and service tariffs rose by 1.1 percent. In contrast, prices for non-food products declined by 0.3 percent.
The sharpest price hikes were observed for potatoes (up 38.8 percent), fresh fish (15.8 percent), fresh vegetables (13.6 percent), and fresh meat (6.2 percent). Within the meat category, prices rose for lamb (9.2 percent), horse meat (6.4 percent), and beef (6 percent).
Prices also increased for vegetable oils (4.1 percent), butter (2.6 percent), and bakery products (2.1 percent). At the same time, notable price drops were recorded for chicken eggs (down 8.9 percent), sugar (4.6 percent), loose milk (3.1 percent), rice (1.5 percent), and flour (1.2 percent).
Consumer price and tariff growth were recorded in all regions. The highest increase—3.7 percent—was in the Osh region, driven by a 5.8 percent rise in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices. The largest price rise for alcohol and tobacco (6.9 percent) was seen in the city of Osh, for non-food products (0.8 percent) in the Issyk-Kul region, and service tariffs (2.8 percent) in the Naryn region.
In April 2025 alone, consumer prices increased by 0.4 percent month-on-month. Food, beverages, alcohol, and tobacco rose by 0.5 percent, non-food products by 0.3 percent, and services by 0.1 percent.
Notable monthly price declines in April were observed for chicken eggs (down 3.8 percent), loose milk (2.7 percent), animal fats (1.5 percent), sugar (0.9 percent), rice (0.8 percent), and flour (0.3 percent).
