ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 7. Aviation security experts in Kazakhstan took a hard look at the results of 2024 and kicked around new challenges on the table, Trend reports via the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The annual national aviation security review meeting was held at the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan. The attendees analyzed the sector’s performance and new challenges, offering recommendations to further enhance aviation security in the country. A crucial part of the discussions was focused on updating regulatory documents, including national aviation rules and procedures, to improve security measures and protect passengers.

Special attention was given to preparations for the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) aviation security audit. This encompassed the whole nine yards of physical security at aviation facilities, keeping a tight lid on access control at airports, ensuring passenger and baggage screening was up to snuff, inspecting cargo with a fine-tooth comb, fortifying cybersecurity, and rolling out staff training—an indispensable piece of the puzzle in assessing compliance with international standards. Experts swapped tales and golden nuggets of wisdom to make sure the audit wrapped up without a hitch.

The event also featured an award ceremony honoring aviation security personnel who made significant contributions to the development and strengthening of the aviation security sector. Industry professionals received badges of distinction and letters of appreciation for their achievements.

The meeting served as an effective platform for experience exchange, addressing current issues, and formulating new solutions aimed at further development and improvement of aviation security in Kazakhstan.

Additionally, the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan oversees and monitors the country’s aviation sector in terms of flight safety and aviation security. Its operations are based on the European model of civil aviation regulation, one of the most advanced and efficient approaches globally, fully aligned with ICAO standards and recommended practices. In 2021, the ICAO validation mission raised the country’s flight safety compliance level to 82 percent, which is 15 percent higher than the global average. For the first time, the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan developed the Republic of Kazakhstan Flight Safety Plan for 2024–2027 in accordance with ICAO requirements.
