ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 10. The number of passengers serviced at Kazakhstan's airports in 2024 amounted to 29.7 million people, which is a 14 percent increase compared to 2023, Trend reports via the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan.

A final meeting on passenger service, baggage, and cargo handling at airports in the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Civil Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (CAA). The event was attended by representatives from the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, CAA, airports, and airlines. The discussions focused on the introduction of new legislative changes aimed at improving service quality and protecting passenger rights, the results of CAA inspections in 2024 on ground handling services, baggage, and cargo, as well as plans for 2025.

The topic of airport preparation for the upcoming audit on the ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme was also raised, concerning simplification of formalities, including the submission of updated programs and final meeting protocols on simplifying formalities for 2024.

The representatives of JSC "Almaty International Airport," JSC "Korkyt-Ata Airport," and JSC "Shymkent Airport" presented reports on the effectiveness of new passenger terminals at the airports in Almaty, Kyzylorda, and Shymkent.

Moreover, it was noted that, against the backdrop of increasing passenger traffic, ensuring the safety of flights and aviation security requires constant improvement of technological processes, maintenance and upgrading of infrastructure, as well as regular training for staff involved in passenger service, baggage handling, and cargo.

Participants from the CAA presented the main types of violations identified by aviation inspectors during the study of ground services related to passenger service, baggage handling, and cargo.

At the meeting, the CEO of "Aktau International Airport," Meruert Zholdybaeva, presented the results of the pilot project "Best Airport Service" at Aktau Airport, aimed at improving passenger service quality. Aktau Airport called on other airports to join the project to enhance passenger service quality across the country.

The meeting concluded with a solemn award ceremony dedicated to Civil Aviation Workers Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where outstanding employees of airport and airline passenger service organizations were honored. They received letters of appreciation from the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the General Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan for their contributions and achievements in the development of the aviation industry, as well as their dedication to the field.

To note, Kazakhstani airlines carried 14.3 million passengers in 2024, which is a 9 percent increase compared to 2023.
