ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 11. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will develop a strategic master plan for the development of Kazakhstan’s civil aviation industry until 2050, Trend reports via Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.

As part of the Global Implementation Support Symposium 2025 (GISS-2025) held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from February 10 through February 12, 2025, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport and ICAO signed an agreement to develop this strategic plan.

The document was signed by Talgat Lastayev, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Transport, and Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO.

“The Master Plan will assist in creating a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for further planning in Kazakhstan's civil aviation sector. It will include sections on airport development, air navigation, airlines, flight safety, and aviation security, as well as accessibility and liberalization of air transport,” the information notes.

The Ministry of Transport emphasized that ICAO has qualified experts and is a recognized leader in developing strategies for its member states.

To note, Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia and the CIS region to establish a strategic partnership with ICAO.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that sets international standards for civil aviation and coordinates its development to improve safety and efficiency. It should not be confused with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which is an independent organization.
